Revitalization of one of Rhode Island's most significant mill complexes.
Struever Bros. Eccles Rouse and The Armory Revival Company recently renovated the 313,000 square foot National and Providence Worsted Mills, one of Rhode Island's most significant and best preserved mill complexes located on the Woonasquatucket River two miles from the heart of downtown Providence.
Dating from 1887, the complex offers a unique opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind, mixed-use campus offering the best of both worlds; easy access to Providence's central business district coupled with the appeal of a wooded, riverfront location. Named after the original 1795 mill on the site, the $68 million Rising Sun Mills project will anchor the western end of the city's newest redevelopment area, the Promenade District. Comprised of 175 acres of riverfront property, the Promenade District extends from the $500 million Providence Place Mall to the heart of historic Olneyville Square and includes more than a million square feet of new development.
