STATE CENTER NEIGHBORHOOD

Transit Oriented Neighborhood
The State Center Development will be Baltimore's largest Transit Oriented Neighborhood. This means more bikes, more walking, more rail and train rides, more busses, and less automobiles.

Connections to Light Rail, Metro and Amtrak all within walking distance

More than simply a government office complex, State Center is where some of Baltimore's most interesting and diverse neighborhoods come together. From Mount Vernon on the east to Upton and Marble Hill in the northwest, State Center is the natural location for the residents of these neighborhoods to shop, work and play.

State Center refers to an area in mid-town Baltimore City generally bordering Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Howard Street and Preston Street. The State Center complex is the largest concentration of State government offices in Maryland, and it is comprised of approximately 25 acres of land around the Cultural Center Metro Station and across the street from the Cultural Center Light Rail Station.

State Center is now the focus of a cooperative effort between the State of Maryland and the City of Baltimore to revitalize the State's office complex and the surrounding communities through extensive redevelopment and the application of Transit Orientated Development (TOD) principles. The ultimate goal of this effort is to connect and integrate the State’s office complex with the surrounding neighborhoods and become a mixed-use, mixed-income neighborhood – one of the City's most attractive arts, commercial, entertainment, retail and residential districts.
