As the President and CEO of Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse for 34 years, Bill Struever has led the company in its efforts to "Transform America’s Cities” through mixed-use projects throughout Baltimore and from Providence, Rhode Island to Houston, Texas.

Since the company's founding in 1974, Struever has been the driving force behind community revitalization efforts that bolster entire neighborhoods and extend beyond individual projects. He has led Struever Bros. from a small company started in his mother's basement to an $8 billion real estate development and general contracting company in eleven cities with five regional offices in the United States.

Struever has played a key role in sustainable development through his passion, creativity and commitment to rebuilding cities. His vision for his company’s future is to lead the country in Green urban revitalization, setting new LEED certified standards for all new projects, as the company continues to adaptively reuse economically obsolete industrial buildings, and reclaim underproductive urban Brownfields.

Recently, Bill accepted the prestigious Urban Land Institute’s Award of Excellence for the preservation and redevelopment of Clipper Mill in Baltimore, Maryland. He is also the recipient of a Congressional Achievement Award for "Outstanding Contributions to Serving the Citizens of the United States." Struever has also received the celebrated Encore Award from The Providence Arts and Business Council for his leadership in including art and artists’ collaboration in all of the company’s Rhode Island development projects.

In 2007, Struever was named the Mid-Atlantic regions’ CEO of the Year. And, he has received special recognition from all levels of government including a Maryland Government Citation from the Task force on Juvenile Justice Reform, the Economic Leadership Award from the National Council for Urban Economic Development; and selected as America's Outstanding Business Volunteer by the United States Federal Government.

Over the years, Struever has been named the Baltimore Sun's Marylander of the Year, Baltimore Business Journal's Businessperson of the Year, and the Maryland Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young. He has also received the Business and Leadership Award by the Maryland Small Business Advisory Council, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation Award, and the Florence Beck Kurdle Award for Community Activism and Achievement from the Maryland Department of Planning, and the Baltimore's Extraordinary Technology Advocate Award from the Greater Baltimore Technology Council.

In stride with the company's business efforts in Baltimore, he actively supports civic organizations aimed at fostering and expanding business and economic development. He has served as President of the Downtown Partnership, Chair of the Baltimore Metropolitan Private Industry Council and is currently on the boards of Greater Baltimore Council, Greater Baltimore Alliance and Greater Baltimore Technology Council.

As reflection of the vital role education and technology play in the success of businesses, Struever has committed himself to educational service throughout the City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland. He has served as Vice Chair to the Baltimore Board of School Commissioners, and is actively committed to the future of Baltimore's youth as a member of the Mayor's Youth Council. Struever has served as a member of the Maryland State Department of Education School-to-Work Task Force, Chair of the Education & Youth Policy Committee, a member of the Governor's Workforce Investment Board, and Chairman of the Education Task Force in the Governor's Employment and Training Council.

Bill has a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Anthropology from Brown University, and he also is certified as a Master Electrician.
